Minutes of the Committee Meeting of Scarborough Athletic Club
Held on Thursday 13th January 2005 at the Rugby Club - Newby
1. Those Present : Mike Willis, John Boyes, Janet Lawrence, John Watson, Chris Wade, Simon Valente Sue Haslam, Roy Tribick, Pete Northedge. Apologies from : Andre Proctor, Geoff Bell, Stuart Backhouse, Ralph Broadley, Dave Baldwin, Tony T.
2. Agreement of Minutes : Minutes of the meeting of November were agreed.
3. Matters Arising. £800 earmarked from UKA for coaching up to 1 April, serious need for more level 2 coaches for the junior section. Course measurement course is still in Roger Everton`s hands.
4. Correspondence : There were 2 letters from Linda Tomczak concerning the Christmas Cracker 10K. The first was a donation to Club of £150, the second a complaint about matters arising at the race presentation. The latter was discussed at Committee, the matter dealt with, and a response is being sent to Linda.
A letter requesting sponsorship for the 10 mile has been put to Pinder.
5. Treasurers Report : General Account : £520.42, Race £166.75, High Int: £1000.13, No notice £1017.52, Kit £352.64. A proposal was agreed to be put to the AGM that if subs are not paid within 3 months there will be a £2 surcharge.
6. Social:. Pie and peas to be organized for AGM. The presentation night is on Friday 18 March with Sarah Rowell as the guest speaker. Janet to confirm availability of Ambassador.
7. AGM: Date agreed as Thursday 3rd February. The AGM Convening notice was agreed. Roy T has agreed to be senior cross country team manager, and it was suggested that Julie Clayton be approached as Ladies Track team manager.
8. Newsletter: Next issue due end in January, copy required.
9. 10M Race Sub Committee : Agreed to be set up at next Committee, provisionally would comprise John Boyes, Ralph Broadley, Pete Northedge, Roy Tribick and Harry Forkin.
10. Cross –Country : Langdale End fixture now 23rd January, course sorted, 6-8 marshalls required.
11. Athletics Development Bid : Pindar School Sports College bid has gone in, and the outcome is awaited.
12. Club Web Site Committee thanked Chris for the excellent site.
13. AOB : Scarborough will be hosting a track fixture in the League at York on first Saturday in July.
This was John Watsons' last committee meeting and he was thanked for his 40 years of commitment.
Award winners for Fell, Track, road and cross country need to be agreed. Committee to decide upon most improved man and lady, Rosie Stone Trophy and contribution to Club.
MW agreed to investigate whether a level 1 coaching course could be put on in Scarborough in April/May
14. Date of Next Meeting : Monday 7th February at the Sports Centre at 2000hrs, to discuss issues arising at the AGM, 10m committee, Christmas Cracker 10K, and the Presentation Night
